A support group and a lab in the St. Louis area provide resources for people with the allergy to mammal products — and evidence that its effects can be reversed.
Our journalists haven't slowed down since the Desk gathered for our first fall conference in Columbia, Mo., a month ago. It's been a joy to see our reporters and editors energized, inspired and working together across newsrooms to bring you new stories, share sources, skills and ideas, and plan new projects.

As we head off for a quick holiday break with this early newsletter, the staff of the Desk (Annie, Tegan & Sara, together at left on Mizzou's campus!) is giving thanks for our dedicated, sharp, creative team of journalists, and for the growing number of news outlets sharing our free reporting with audiences across the watershed.
We're also deeply grateful for you, our readers and supporters. Thanks for your interest in the environmental forces shaping life in the Mississippi River basin and beyond, and for showing us you want to see more in-depth, collaborative reporting on these complex issues. We couldn't do this without you. Be well, and as always, stay tuned for more.
